Junior Board

Lakeshore Region Junior Board

What is Junior Board?
Jr. Board is a representative group of Pony Club members that develop ideas and inform the Regional Board (D.C.s and R.S.) of what we Pony Clubbers want to do in Pony Club any given year. Some suggestions include having healthy food at Regional Camp and getting more ideas for summer activities. Junior Board has also organized a D1 camp and there are more events in its future. It also gives members a chance to interact with members from other clubs and create more friendships.

Who can join it?
Each club is allowed up to three representatives (Club Reps), and each Rep will serve a two year term. It is up to the individual clubs for who they will send but it is suggested that representatives be at least 13 years old or at least a D3.

What do you have to do to be a Club Rep?
In order to be a Club Rep you must be elected by your local club members to serve the two year term. In that two year term, you should attend both meetings of the Jr. Board which happen in conjunction with the Regional D.C. meetings. At these meetings the Club Reps are expected to participate in discussion and create ideas for the Board to do as well as join one committee (at least) to help implement these ideas.

What do they do?
This year, the Jr. Board was in charge of organizing and running an UR/D1 camp and rally in July. Next year Jr. Board will be doing the Jamboree again along with other great ideas that we can think up!

Who is in charge?
At this point in time there are four positions in charge of Junior Board. They are Chair, Co-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. These are one year terms and as of the October 2006 meeting our officials are as follows:

Chair | Marlie, Big Bay Pony Club
Co-Chair | Kelly, Lake Superior Pony Club
Treasurer | Rachel, Kickapoo Pony Club
Secretary | Sam, Blackhawk Pony Club

In addition to the four officials there are several committees that form the backbone of the Junior Board as they are who get all the work done.

Ask your club representative or one of the above for more information on Junior Board! It is what you make it!!! And from all of us in Junior Board–Have a great year with your horses!!!
