Lakeshore Region Jamboree July 17-19 at Grafton Equestrian Center

By Heidi

On Tuesday morning we woke up very early to bathe Skippy. We then put him in his stall so we could eat breakfast and he rubbed on the stall wall and got dirty again. We then drove to Grafton, Wisconsin. We then unloaded all our stuff and set up our tack stall. We were one of the first ones there.

I was on the blue team with Sarah, Zsa Zsa, and Elizabeth. I made some good friends. There were 15 campers all together.

Our first lesson was with Marlie Birr. It was on the flat and it was fun. Skippy was a very good boy. We stayed at my Aunt Laurie’s in Milwaukee so we didn’t have to drive so far every night. We sat outside and ate ice cream.

On the second day we had fun. I jumped the blue barrels out in the open. By the end of the day I was exhausted and so was Skippy. He was a good boy. They had a competitor’s party. At the beginning of the camp we got a sheet and had stickers added if we did nice things for people or cleaned up without asking. I took second place with 19 stickers!

The third day one of the campers saw a snake in the cross country jumping field. We had a mock rally. I did a dressage test and jumped a course of X’s. I won fattest pony award and got a tiny feed scoop as a prize.

It was very fun. Thank you to the Junior Board who worked very hard to organize it.
