FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Olympic silver medalist Gina Miles will be the featured clinician at the Racine County Pony Club Equestrian Center Sept. 19 & 20, 2009.

The clinic is open to riders and auditors of all ages and abilities.

Miles won the silver medal in eventing at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing aboard her Irish Sport Horse McKinlaigh. The pair was later named the Chronicle of the Horse’s “Horse and Horseman of the Year.”

For the Racine County Pony Club clinic, Miles will work with riders on dressage and jumping skills.

A popular clinician and teacher throughout the United States, Miles is Level 3 instructor with the United States Eventing Association and is a leading expert on safety in eventing.

Before she rose to the top of the eventing world, Miles got her start in Pony Club, joining a California club at the age of 14. A graduate “A” and National Examiner, she is a strong supporter of the Pony Club. She is also a member of the United States Hunter Jumper Association and has earned a Silver Medal with the United States Dressage Federation.

Miles lives in Central California with her husband and two children.

Founded in 1967, the Racine County Pony Club is one of 600 local clubs in the United States. The Racine organization is the only the only club in the nation to own and operate its own not-for profit equestrian center.

The equestrian center is committed to the education of its members as well as other pony clubbers and equestrians from the surrounding region. Through the volunteer efforts of dedicated club members, parents, alumni as well as the generosity of individual and corporate sponsors, this premier facility was designed and created to provide a permanent home for the club. In doing so, RCPC-EC is recognized as a source for quality instruction, frequent and dynamic clinic offerings as well as a “living laboratory” emphasizing the teaching and practice of good horse management skills. The RCPC Equestrian Center is a shining example of the principals of Horsemanship, Stewardship, Leadership and Sportsmanship – cornerstones of the Pony Club Experience.

Pony Club is one of the leading junior equestrian organizations in the world, represented throughout 30 countries. The United States Pony Club is active in 48 states and the Virgin Islands with more than 11,000 members.

The organization provides opportunities for instruction and competition in English riding, horse sports and horse management for children and young adults up to age 25. The term “pony” reflects the age of the members, rather than the size of the mount. Horses and ponies of many different breeds, shapes and sizes are seen in Pony Club activities.
