We am pleased and proud to announce that RCPC’s own Lisa has been nominated to represent the Lake Shore Region at the USPC National Youth Congress (NYC) being held in conjunction with the USPC National Meeting in Boston January 2008! The NYC is an opportunity through USPC for Leadership training, to make some really good friends, to see an historic city (Boston), and more. The criteria for nominees is 18-21 year olds, C-3 and above ratings, who demonstrate leadership and volunteerism, embody the qualities mentioned in the USPC Mission Statement and obey the USPC National Youth Congress Code of Conduct. This year Nationals allowed an exception for qualified members who meet the age requirement and all other qualifications for the NYC but are not H-B, C+ or C-3 rated.
In order to be considered, candidates had to write a short essay on why we should consider sending them to Boston. These essays were reviewed and voted on at the Fall LSR DC/Board meeting last weekend. Lisa’s essay was eloquent and passionate, and made for an easy decision!
USPC covers lodging during the NYC meeting days, and our Regional Pam Ryan Fund covers travel and meal expenses for our delegate.
Again – Please join us in congratulating Lisa on this significant accomplishment!
