Lakeshore Region Standards & Ratings Clinic | Bunny Hendricks

The RCPC Equestrian Center will be hosting the Lakeshore Region annual Standards & Ratings Clinic taught by Bunny Hendricks, a Level IV National Examiner on Saturday November 8th, starting promptly at 9:00 am. This clinic is a great opportunity for instructors, DCs, parents and pony clubbers to familiarize themselves with the USPC standards of proficiency through the use of demo riders at the various rating levels. We are looking for 4-5 demo riders per rating level.

Bunny will be staying over and teaching a mounted clinic on Sunday November 9th. Please use the attached form to register as a demo rider and/or register for the mounted clinic on Sunday. Clinic slots will be filled on a first come first served basis. Closing date for clinic registration and demo riders is Sunday November 2nd.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Unmounted Meeting | Midwest Theraputic Program

Midwest Therapeutic, a therapeutic riding program, will be bringing a horse and child with them to do a demonstration. Here is some information on the program:

Therapeutic riding emphasizes and teaches riding skills taught by North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) registered instructors. Lessons incorporate life skills and IEP goals in an enjoyable setting. The rider learns how to control the horse, giving them a great sense of accomplishment.

Hippotherapy literally means “treatment with the help of a horse.” Licensed therapists use the horse as a therapy tool. Hippotherapy doesn’t teach riding skills, but uses the movement of the horse to influence the rider’s posture, balance, function, and sensory processing.

The horse’s gait is very similar to a human’s: the length of the stride, number of strides per minute, and the three planes of movement (lateral, anterior/posterior, and up and down.) For some riders, it is the first time they have been able to feel what walking is like.

Feel free to visit their website prior to the demonstration.

Fall Regional Council & Junior Board Meetings

Mounted Clinic | Susan Taylor

As we announced at our recent un-mounted meeting, the November Mounted Clinic will be free of charge to all Racine County Pony Club members as a reward for all of your hard work throughout the year. We were originally scheduled to have Jenny Goad for our November clinic, but she is unable to do the clinic due to unexpected circumstances. So we have arranged to have Susan Taylor come to do our clinic for us on Saturday, November 22nd. Susan is a graduate A Pony Clubber that currently runs her own business, Taylord Horses, LLC and is currently instructing and training horses in Waunakee, WI. at Carriage Ridge Stables. During her competitive career she worked under Eric Dierks as his working student. She now competes with her horse, Wellington, at Third Level in Dressage.

Her credentials are the following: USEA Instructor (Level I), Former USEA/ FEI Intermediate Competitor, Former North American Young Rider, Former U.S. International Intercollegiate Team Member, USPC ‘A’ rated

I hope you will all take advantage of riding in this clinic with Susie. The first ride is no charge and second rides will be offered on a first come-first serve basis after the closing date. So please do not delay in submitting your registration forms as there will not likely be any openings for late registrations.
